About Nomad Melbourne

I’m always excited to introduce people to Nomad Melbourne because it feels like one of those restaurants that instantly settles you in while still keeping things interesting. Tucked away at 187 Flinders Lane in the heart of the city, Nomad Melbourne has a relaxed but confident restaurant vibe that works just as well for a casual lunch as it does for a long, chatty dinner with friends. The space feels warm and welcoming, and the service leans friendly rather than formal, which makes it easy to slow down and actually enjoy the experience. When it comes to food and drink, there’s plenty to explore without feeling overwhelmed. The menu is designed for sharing, so small plates naturally take center stage, encouraging the table to try a bit of everything and keep the conversation flowing. There’s a strong focus on quality ingredients, with healthy options sitting comfortably alongside more indulgent choices, plus vegan and vegetarian dishes that feel thoughtful instead of like afterthoughts. Halal-friendly food options also make the restaurant accessible to a wider crowd, which I always appreciate. Drinks are a big part of the appeal here too, with a well-curated selection of wine, spirits, beer, and creative cocktails, along with good coffee if you’re stopping by earlier in the day. For different dining needs, Nomad Melbourne keeps things flexible, offering dine-in for the full experience, takeaway for busy days, and delivery when staying in sounds better. There’s also a private dining room available, which is ideal for celebrations or work events where you still want great food without the noise of a packed dining room. It suits first-time visitors and regulars alike, and the atmosphere stays lively without being loud, making conversations easy and meals unhurried, whether you’re popping in spontaneously or planning ahead for something special. The layout encourages sharing plates and lingering over drinks, fitting neatly into Melbourne’s food-loving culture.

This was my last and best meal in Melbourne before I returned home. Every dish was done so well! Would highly recommend everyone that is travelling to come and try this! We had the scallops, pillowy flatbread to go along with the full bodied hummus, the zucchini fritters that packs a punch, the MUST ORDER well seasoned dry aged pork cutlet and not forgetting the MUST ORDER olive oil ice cream too

We chose Nomad to celebrate our wedding anniversary and ordered “the feast” set menu and it was great!! The potions were pretty good and all tasted great. The bluefin tuna and Cauliflower blossom and were my favourite of the night but the rest of them were absolutely delicious. We ordered the pork Cutlet as well which was ok( probably the least favourite) The service was great considering it was a busy night there. Really like it and highly recommended

Had the most comforting solo dinner at NOMAD on a relaxing weekday night, hosted by the lovely Jem who was so knowledgeable and sweet! Flatbread, fava bean hummus, and cuttlefish were all well balanced. Wood roasted chicken and potatoes were flawless and so, so flavourful! The roasted banana homemade “magnum” was delightful. Jem paired the Sabi Wabi Sémillon and the One Block Pinot Noir for me - so perfect, so satisfying. Would love to recommend NOMAD to anyone looking for an excellent night.

Great experience at Nomad Melbourne. The food was very tasty overall, though the steak was a bit rich for my liking, however to be expected as a Wagyu. Standout dishes were the flatbread and the zucchini flower both excellent. Tuna Escabeche was balanced and delicious. Oysters were also fresh and house made worstershire sauce was a great addition.Service was good and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. Would happily return.

I visited NOMAD recently and overall was very impressed, with a 9/10 being a fair rating in my eyes. The restaurant itself is good vibes, with an open kitchen adding to those in abundance. We were promptly seated and ordered drinks but didn’t get a food menu for 15/20 minutes afterwards. I understand why the restaurant does this, but the wait was too long for me. Between three we shared the flatbread, burrata and fava bean hummus to start. The burrata was nice but not as good as the bread and hummus. For mains we got the onion tarte tatin, pork, charcoal chicken with potatoes and asparagus. The pork was the stand out with lovely crackling but super tender. The tarte was great and the goats curd worked well with it, then the chicken was solid. I wasn’t crazy about the sides but they worked well. Finally we got the olive oil ice cream sandwich, which was delicious but the olive oil flavour is quite subtle and goes missing when eaten with the honey and crumble. I’d definitely recommend NOMAD and go back myself. It’s very reasonably priced for the quality of produce and cookery (~315 dollars for drink each and the food). A couple minor tweaks and this would be exceptional.

Great friendly service, good atmosphere and delicious food, but expect long wait for your mains. We were warned, but it was still longer than we expected! It took a little more than an hour for it to be served, and that stopped us from ordering dessert we wanted to try, because it was too late :’). For entree we ordered bread and burrata - really recommend this combination! For mains we ordered pork belly, lamb and grilled carrots. I personally preferred lamb for its meat, but the sauce on pork belly was really good. Carrots were 5/5.

A truly premium Middle Eastern dining experience that is absolutely worth the money. The food was rich in flavour, beautifully presented, and clearly made with high-quality ingredients. The ambience is elegant and intimate, making it perfect for couple outings or special evenings.
